"Making Things" competition was sponsored by GE Garages. Installation was an interactive, with motorized discs that responded to body shapes and movements of passersby. As discs, activated by web cams and custom coding, turned in correspondence to bodies, they offered passersby a glimpse into the store inside. The update to the landscaping created natural pathways throughout the property, created an organic patio space linking the swimming pool and the yard, and achieved the homeowners' goal of masking the pool maintenance equipment. Competition for City of Austin proposed redevelopment of industrial waterfront site. Design was driven by concept of fluidity of landscape, water, and structure. Husband and wife designers wanted a semi-private space for their graphic design business, plus master suite. Goal of design was to create a light connection to the existing house, paying homage to the details and materials (copper, wood, travertine) in the home, while adding a modern twist.
